At first I kind of wanted to complain about booking a car because my business trip schedule was really full and I hate seeing a big charge hit my credit card at once. On a trip last year I got scared by a huge pre authorization so this time when I saw One-Dollar Freeze on QEEQ I just stared at it for a second and thought is it real that I can lock a car with only 1 dollar. This trip was to New York for meetings and I chose a Chrysler Pacifica from Avis a seven seater so I could ride with colleagues from the airport to the city. I booked it some time in advance and the system only took 1 dollar. I checked my bill on my phone and felt relaxed. My credit limit was almost untouched and I could still pay for flights and hotel without stress. I remember it was around the night of June 10. I was at home fixing my slides and thinking it was nice that I did not need to pay the full amount at once. That big number on the bill would make my heart hurt. When it was close to the pick up time on June 11 in the afternoon the rest of the rental cost was already charged automatically. I did not see any strange fee and there was no interest. In my head I was a bit surprised and thought they really just froze the booking with 1 dollar. When I arrived in New York I went to the Avis counter and did the normal rental process. Everything felt like a regular rental and I could focus more on my work. While I was driving the car to meet a client I kept thinking that if every booking could start with a tiny payment like this it would be great for someone who travels for business a lot. For me the main feeling was that the pressure on my credit card was much lower and my bill looked a lot better. It felt good to lock the car first and let the payment go through later and this fits business travelers who fly around all the time.
