When I think of this Boston trip in the US, the first picture in my mind is me at the counter looking for snacks for my kid, not taking out my credit card to pay. At that moment I suddenly noticed that the full payment for the car was already done before. I really had booked the car with just one dollar before the trip. I felt very relaxed inside. I came to Boston with my child. We arrived around May 18. Our schedule was full. I had to plan the days and also watch the budget. When I booked the car on QEEQ, I saw the One-Dollar Freeze option. It said I only needed to pay 1 dollar first to lock the car. The rest would be taken automatically before the rental started and there was no interest. I stared at the words “no interest” for a while before I clicked confirm. When you travel with a kid, money just keeps going out. I was really scared that my credit card would get hit by a big charge at once and my whole month plan would be broken. I chose a Toyota RAV4 from Budget. Four doors and five seats. The space is good for a kid and also for luggage and all the kid stuff. When I placed the order, my bank only showed a 1 dollar charge. I did not believe it at first. I opened my banking app to check. It was really just that tiny amount. It felt very safe, like I could lock the car first and think about the rest later. During those days I was still booking other transport, hotels and tickets. If I had to pay the full rental price at the start, I think I would count every single expense after that. As the trip came closer, I started to worry again. I wondered if the shop would ask me to pay some strange extra fee or say that my plan did not count. When I went to pick up the car in Boston around May 20 at noon, the counter staff checked my booking. All the info was already in their system. I just showed my documents and followed the normal steps. They told me the payment was already arranged. Then I realized the rest of the money had been taken before I came. I did not get shocked by a sudden big charge. I also did not need to stand at the counter doing math while my kid got impatient. My biggest feeling from all this is that the pressure on my credit card was much lower. Because I did not pay a big amount in one shot, I could keep some credit for things like my kid getting sick or a sudden change in our plan. For a parent, this mental space is very important. When I think back, if I could not book the car with just 1 dollar first, I might keep waiting and then mess up the whole plan. As a person who always wants extra safety room for the child, this payment style feels very friendly. I booked this car through QEEQ. I usually do not remember platform names, but this time the one dollar to lock the car, no interest and smooth final payment made a strong impression on me.
