At first I was a bit nervous. My costs were high in that period and I was traveling alone and needed a car in Los Angeles. My credit card limit was already used by other plans. I chose a Cadillac Escalade ESV. It is a big car and not cheap. If I had to pay the full amount at once my card bill for that month would look scary. I paid 1 dollar first and my mind felt lighter. It was like I only saved the spot. In the next days I was busy with other plans. Sometimes I suddenly thought of the booking and in my head I said to myself that the car was already booked so I did not feel so stressed. On the pickup day in the middle of June in the evening around seven I went to the rental counter near Los Angeles. When the staff checked my information I remembered that the rest of the money was already charged before. They did not ask me to sign some strange extra paper. For me it felt like the money just moved by itself at the right time and I only needed to show up and use the car. A few times when I used my card for flights and other stuff I checked the limit. It did not feel very tight. The fact that there was no interest was very important to me because I do not like to owe money. The payment was only split by time and I still felt I had control. When I think back if I had to pay the full price at once I might have waited for some days or even missed that car. This way is nice for someone like me who travels alone and has to watch the budget.
